Rocky (Adopted 2017)
Rocky is an easy-going 8 year old, tricolor male. He was recently transferred into our program, having spent his entire life as part of a puppy mill.
Rocky’s just moving through our vetting process. He has had a physical, vaccines, neuter and a dental. Rocky’s vet indicated he has a significant heart murmur – most likely grade 4 – that will require a cardiac workup. Despite that, he shows no signs of heart failure as the vet did not hear any fluid in his lungs, and his respiration rate is excellent.
Given his tough beginnings, Rocky has a lot to learn about being a much-loved member of the family. He is working on his house manners and training, learning steps, learning how to walk on a leash and enjoying lots of snuggles. He gets along well with other dogs and all people. His favorite spot in his foster home is on the couch.
The ideal home for Rocky is one where the family understands his rough beginnings, and will be very patient with him as he unfolds and just learns to be a pet. A knowledge of MVD and an understanding of the disease’s expenses, is also key. Another small easy-going dog would be a preferred for him and a fenced yard is required.
